2017 Client of the Year: Zoe has been participating at PALS for about seven years. She is working toward complete independent riding and often rides without a horse leader. During her time on the horse, Zoe works on balance and core strength while learning riding skills such as steering her horse through patterns. She is looking forward to building her relationship with her current horse, Splash, so that someday she can attempt trotting. Her instructor, Lizzie, really enjoys Zoe’s spirit and loves to laugh with her during her lessons. PALS staff has been struck by Zoe’s involvement in the community this year. She has begun giving speeches for disability awareness and attends monthly meetings for the Counsel for Community Accessibility. Zoe’s hard work and passion for her lessons epitomizes the spirit of a PALS client and we’re excited to honor her as our 2017 Client of the Year.
2017 Volunteer of the Year: Kazuko has been a dedicated volunteer of PALS since September of 2016. She has been one of the most hardworking and dedicated volunteers PALS’ has seen. Kazuko has many different roles as a volunteer. She is a horse leader, sidewalker, Instructor, and always keeps the facility looking clean! She’s an all-star volunteer that can be counted on for anything and everything. Just recently, Kazuko joined the PALS staff as a registered PATH International Instructor. We’re so grateful to have Kazuko as part of the PALS family. PALS truly wouldn’t be the same without her!
2017 Community Partner of the Year: Wheeler Mission began a partnership with PALS in November of 2016. Every Wednesday a crew comes out and works on a variety of different projects. For the last year, Wheeler Mission has volunteered over 700 hours at PALS doing things such as helping put up hay, cleaning & fixing up the small barn, and building the outdoor arena. We sincerely cannot thank them enough for all they do!
2017 Corporate Partner of the Year: The Smithville Charitable Foundation has been serving central and southern Indiana for 8 years awarding over $1 million dollars to deserving programs. Smithville Charitable Foundation has been a key donor to PALS for many years. They help bridge the funding gap for our therapeutic riding sessions. In fact, much of this quarter’s costs have been funded by the Smithville Charitable Foundation. Generous donors and grantors are what keep PALS serving our amazing clients and we value each and every one of them.
