In Memory of Paul Bryan

We here at PALS are experiencing great sadness over the tragic and unexpected loss of our Executive Director, Paul Bryan, on Dec. 25. While leading PALS since November 2019, Paul navigated our organization through the difficulties of COVID-19 in a variety of important ways. He proactively secured funds to support payroll and ease the deficits created by the shut down and the necessary decrease in programs. During his tenure at the organization, Paul found new grant opportunities that have and will continue to enable PALS to support our clients with reduced lesson fees. At his passing, he was actively working on a grant to reduce barn expenses by installing LED lighting in our arena.

As a retired veteran, Paul made new connections with organizations serving fellow veterans in south central Indiana. He established a stronger relationship with the Monroe County Autism Foundation, expanding our client pool by promoting awareness of PALS’ services to those with autism. One outcome of this new partnership has been the planning of a new sensory experience trail on the property. We expect to see this trail become a reality for our clients in spring 2021, with the help of community partners such as Loren Wood Builders and volunteers from the autism foundation. Paul’s willingness to reach out to the community on many levels has been key to establishing several new critical relationships for PALS.

The board and staff will be working together to finish Paul’s endeavors and to guide the organization through a challenging period without his direction and can-do spirit. The search for a new director will begin soon and a hiring committee is in place. In the meantime, we are handling the essential day-to-day tasks as a team and moving forward as Paul would expect us to do. Your advice, suggestions, and support for all of us during this time is so appreciated.

Donations may be made in Paul’s memory toward the sensory trail. Select the Memorial Fund Donations option on the donation form.
